DIPLOMA IN GENERAL NURSING AND MIDWIFERY (GNM)

The Diploma course in General Nursing and Midwifery (GNM) is designed to meet the health needs of individuals, families, and the community at large. The programme prepares students to become competent nursing professionals capable of providing comprehensive healthcare services in hospitals and community settings. Duration of Course:
The Diploma course in General Nursing and Midwifery is of 3 years duration.

Annual Intake:
40 Students

Eligibility Criteria:
• Minimum age for admission is 17 years on or before 31st December of the year of admission.
• Maximum age for admission shall be 35 years.
• There is no age limit for ANM / LHV candidates.
• Candidates must have passed 10+2 (12 years schooling) from a recognized board (CBSE/ICSE/State Board or equivalent).
• 10+2 with English and minimum 40% marks in aggregate and in English individually.
• Candidates from State Open School or National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS) recognized by the Government are also eligible (Science is preferable).
• 10+2 with English having 40% marks in vocational ANM course from a school recognized by Indian Nursing Council.
• 10+2 with English having 40% marks in vocational stream–Health Care Science from a recognized board.
• Registered ANM with pass marks is eligible.

For Foreign Nationals:
The equivalency of qualifications (12th standard) shall be obtained from the Association of Indian Universities (AIU), New Delhi. The Institution and State Nursing Council will ensure eligibility as per prescribed norms.

Reservation:
• 3% reservation for disabled candidates with 40%–50% locomotor disability of lower extremities, as per norms.
• 5% relaxation in marks for SC/ST candidates.
• Other reservations as per State Government rules.

Selection Process:
Selection will be based on the candidate’s performance in the qualifying examination (10+2 or equivalent). Shortlisted candidates will undergo personal interview, document verification, and medical fitness examination. The decision of the admission committee shall be final.

Course Curriculum:
The GNM programme is structured to prepare students for clinical nursing practice with emphasis on patient care, professional skills, and ethical responsibilities.
